The bow tie is an elegant accessory that can transform a boy into a gentleman. At formal occasions, bow tie makes a man look uber cool and the cynosure of everyone. Though the regular black bow tie has been around for a long time and is a classic in itself, the ones in funky shades like pink, blue and purple are doing the rounds. The vibrant colours make it apt for casual outings too.

Keeping this aside, one thing about bow tie is how to wear them. FMW brings you some easy steps to tie a bow tie.

Place the bow tie around your neck so that one side (say A) is two inches longer than the other side (say B).
Cross A over B to make a loop.
Bring A under the loop.
Now tie the double end of B over itself to form the front base loop of the bow tie.
Loop the A side over the centre of the loop you just formed.
Holding everything in place, double tie the A side on itself and push it through the loop behind the bow tie.
Adjust the bow tie by straightening the ends.
Make sure that the ends don’t extend to the shirt collar.

Now that you know the basics, keep practising till you master the art of tying the perfect bow tie. Hope you learn it before the New Year party!
