Held for the first time in Delhi, the India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) lived up to its standard and showcased the collections of some of the best brands of jewellery in the country. FMW brings you the day 1 and day 2 highlights just for our previlidged readers.

Day 1 of IIJW was a star studded affair and saw many Bollywood divas walking the ram for various designers and brands. The show was inaugurated with the brand ambassador of the event, Sonam Kapoor walking the ramp! Living up to her image of a fashionista, she walked the ramp wearing an Anamika Khanna lehenga and jewellery from her mother, Sunita Kapoor’s collection. For us, the look was an instant hit! The floral prints on the lehenga went well with spring/summer mood, while a ponytail and statement jewellery kept the look from going over the top. Keeping it balanced and yet fashionable, we think, Sonam’s look, would make for a perfect inspiration for any modern day bride!

Preceding Sonam, former Miss India Ankita Shorey and actress Shriya Saran walked the ramp for Gitanjali Gems, while Yami Gautam and Lara Dutta aced the ramp for Nazraana and Birdhichand Ghansymadas Jewellers respectively.

Later the evening saw another great show put up by the Hazoorilal Jewellers. Presenting their haute couture jewellery, comprising contemporary gold ornaments, inspired from the African and Indian tribes, they proved why they’re one of the oldest and most successful players in the game. Showstopper for the show, mesmerizing beauty, Chitrangadha Singh, looked just as lovely as the collection itself!

Overall the day 1 of IIJW came as a fresh whiff of air! Not over the top yet befitting in the traditional set up of Indian weddings, most of the jewellery collection presented by various designers was commendable and most important of all, was wearable!
