The Capital is set abuzz with celebrity arrivals lately, thanks to the ongoing India Bridal Fashion Week (IBFW). It’s a delight to watch beautiful celebs decked up in bridal pieces, walking the ramp. Some collections that we got to see were so good, that we were left speechless and astounded, at the same time. Just in case if you missed the buzz, don’t worry , we’ve got compiled for you all the major events and shows right from the day 2 till day 4, of the first time happening in New Delhi, the India Bridal Fashion Week’13.

Day 2: Jyotsna Tiwari, Rina Dhaka, Muzzafar and Meera Ali

Jyotsna Tiwari
Jyotsna Tiwari presented a collection that was an amalgation of desi, contemporary and international trends. We saw shades of fuschia, neon blue, orange among other bright colors. The clothes had sharp cuts, heavy work and light fabrics. Can’t say it blew our mind, but kudos to Jyotsna for attempting something new and refreshing. Bollywood actress, Jacqline Fernandis, who is also the brand ambassador of the IBFW, walked the ramp for Jyotsna, in a hot pink strapless slit dress.

Rina Dhaka
Rina Dhaka is known for her aesthetic sense and incorporation of traditional craftsmanship in her designs, showcased her collection Free Spirited Bride’ on day 2 of the IBFW. Her collection comprised mostly gotha and patchwork embellished clothes. We got to see different styles of shararas, ghagras and sarees. While we liked few pieces can’t say we were taken aback by the collection, it was a little too much bling for us. The show was opened by actress Sophie Chaudhary while Pratiek Babbar and newbee Amarya walked the ramp as showstoppers for Rina.

Meera and Muzzafar Ali
Muzzafar Ali is a man of many talents and we have to say, he doesn’t fail us as a designer either. His couture label, the House of Kotwara, makes for an interesting fashion study. Along with this architect wife Meera, Muzzafar Ali presented his aesthetic abilities through this impressive collection comprising, lehengas, shararas, choghas and sarees, all decked with traditional craftwork of chikan embroidery, gota and zardozi. We particularly liked the red ghaghra with the long kurta top. The collection was praiseworthy and reminded us of Awadh.

Day 3; Falguni and Shane, Raghuvendra Kumar Rathod
Falguni and Shane have already made a niche for themselves in the fashion world globally, and time and again we spot international as well as Indian celebrities, donning their clothes. While they certainly excel with their western collection, we wish we could say the same about their bridal too. Their collection called The garden of Eden, was all about whimsical designs, with stark colour contrast combinations. While we love the statement style they put in the western collection, the structured metallic waist for a bridal wear (worn by Neha Dhupia) didn’t really work for us. Also the flowery headgears styled on the ensembles that were pretty heavy as it is, the whole look seemed OTT to us. Decked up in a dark metallic black and brown, structured waist gown done with heavy smoky eyes, Neha Dhupia walked the ramp for the duo.

Raghavendra Rathore
Day 3 of the IBFW, saw designer Raghavendra Rathore, make a comeback on the ramp with his bridal collection after four years! His bridal collection for men and women comprised mostly of his trademark bandgalas, jackets and coats. We especially liked the ensemble, with the bolero jacket attached to the long festooned gown. Looking every bit dashing in a velvet jacket worn over a black Kurta, veteran Bollywood actor, Anil Kapoor walked the ramp for the designer.

Day 4; Rohit Bal, Ashima ““ Leena
Rohit Bal
Rohit Bal’s show was the kind, that puts you in a trance, you get so thrilled by it that you forget for a moment that it’s a show and leaves you enthralled with goosebumps by the end of end. The designer is been always known for his grandeur style and ethereal aesthetic sense and this time too, Rohit aced it, for he presented the show so grand that left us stunned.
The stage was set in a whimsical combination of lotus and lights, while the designs were an eclectic mix of the Victorian and Indian style and silhouettes. We loved almost every piece of the collection as not only all of them are wearable off runway too, but they had the vibe of vintage royalty. Velvet jackets, Victorian collars and Elizabethan corsets made for an absolute visually delightful collection. Decked up in stunning cream coloured, embroidered lehenga, looking very different and absolutely divine, Sonam Kapoor walked the ramp as the showstopper.

Ashima ““ Leena, showcased their collection at the runway, this time alongwith the new face of their label, Rhea Singh. Their collection comprised mainly chudidaars, lehengas and sarees. Kudos to the duo for choosing the subtle colour palette for the designs! Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri walked the ramp for them.
