The Grand Finale And The Works

1 99

The six-day-long fashion extravaganza concluded last night with designer Tarun Tahiliani’s grand finale for the fourth edition of the Amby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week at The Grand in New Delhi.

Looking every bit pulchritudinous on the ramp Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt walked the ramp as the showstopper for Azwa, the jewellery brand. For the show, models walked the ramp wearing simple clothes in solid colours and heavy bridal jewellery. The jewellery collection is inspired by the seven vows in a Hindu marriage. The beautiful pieces cut a pretty picture for us and are on the to-buy list of many brides.

Designer Tarun Tahiliani’s name is synonymous to style and panache. Bridal wear being his strong point, he faired exceptionally well. The show started with a sensuous dance performance by Attakalari dance group and opened by model Lisa Hayden dressed in a golden saree, after which the models walked the ramp in flimsy golden attires fashioned as sarees, evening gowns and dresses. The hair done in a bun with a headband and a feather attached to it gave us a vibe of the Gatsby look. After the collection in golden, the models walked in clothes in pastel shades. We specially loved the sky blue ensemble and orange, heavy, voluminous lehenga with work of crystals and Swarovski worn by model Indrani Dasgupta. The blouses done in different styles, embellished with crystals made for a refreshing change.

Speaking of men’s wear for the bridal collection, we got see a lot of heavy work sherwanis and dhoti kurtas capable of turning any groom into a dapper hunk.

In the end, the models were accompanied by child model bridesmaids dressed in stylish fuschia lehengas. The concept of ghunghat sported by the models gave the vibe of the traditional walk of the bride at a Hindu wedding.

Tarun Tahiliani’s larger than life show didn’t disappoint us. Lisa Hayden in the grey lehenga made for a stunning showstopper.
