All That Glitters – IIJW DAY 1

The most awaited India International Jewellery Fashion Week just began in Mumbai!

The Auro gold show which presented Manali Chanda’s designs was dedicated to the extinct species of dodo. The show was dedicated to the Uttarakhand relief fund.  The collection had wonderfully crafted bracelets and neckpieces. Bollywood superstar Anil Kapoor was present at the show, while Huma Qureshi was the show stopper for the designer.

The other unique show was presented by Sunil and Kiran Datwani of Gehna Jewellers. Rock and Roll theme show was a blend of traditional and western. The models walked down the ramp flaunting necklaces, chokers, pendant sets, earrings and cocktail rings that all stood for the epitome of elegance with a touch of edge. The show was designed by James Ferreira and Shaina NC. Evelyn Sharma was the show stopper who rocked the stage in a red gown wearing their pièce de résistance made of uncut diamonds and south sea pearls. Abhay Deol was the guest of honour at the Rock and Roll show.

Day 1 came to an end with Nirav Modi’s Eden Garden collection. The runway was beautifully decorated with plants and the show began with a ballet performance.

Models walked down the runway in elegant ballroom gowns donning the designer’s elegant jewellery. Rose cut diamonds and beautifully crafted bracelets made a cut on the runway literally!
