Strap It Up!

Belts are the basis of practically everyone’s wardrobe, and the only piece which has the maximum uses ever! But ever wondered where it came from?

It all began in the Bronze Age! Yes no kidding, chaps in the bronze age were fashion forward. They wore belts in order to hold their clothes together and that’s how belts came into existence(necessity is definitely the mother of all inventions!)

Later on in the 1900s Art Nouveau Belt Buckles were invented to hold men’s skirts and blouses together(really they wore that!) Even women of the early 19th century wore belts under their corsets. If you’re the lucky kid to have one of the Art Nouveau Belt Buckles then be happy you have a collector’s item in your wardrobe!

Soldiers from the Russian wars used these belts to clinch their waistlines(yep they were skinny obsessed!) Belts were used by the military for decorative purposes. As trouser waistlines fell, men and women began to wear belts on a daily basis for non decorative purposes.

Today, belts are worn for decorative as well as no decorative purposes and we totally love the studded belts from Garcia Jeans and Hidesign! Team it up with practically anything and you’re ready to rule the streets!

Women took on to wearing bust belts and men, specially the teenage boys, took on to wearing belts on their sagging pants. The practice of wearing super low pants was inspired by prison gang members who were refrained from wearing belts. So next time when you see someone wearing a belt over their super low pants then you know where they come from!(No offence but we hate the sight of it!) 😉
