What to expect from WIFW Day 1

Day 1 of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week begins today and here’s a peek into what you can expect from the shows. Annupama Dayal opens the show followed by young Masaba Gupta. Anumpama Dayal is a veteran in the industry for more than ten years. She expressed her excitement for opening the show at India’s biggest fashion week and promises to start the week on a fresh and energetic note. Her collection is called Gulabi comprising of boho-chic ensembles with an Indian stamp. We are all excited to watch her show. Masaba on the other hand, we really hope evolves from her print obsession and show us more strands of creativity in textures, fabrics and colors. Seriously PRINT on the runway is done to death. Even local darjis are making outfits with all sorts birds, animals, alphabets and solar system prints. Time to move on.

Nachiket Barve is a favourite of fashionistas, celebrities and his very wide customer base, the label retails at 30 top-end designer boutiques, along with Bespoke’ and Indian wear from his studio in Mumbai. This season, Nachiket is showing his SS 14 Collection “FOSSIL” at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. We have all eyes on him.

Multi-talented Nida Mahmood needs no introduction and you all read our exclusive interview with her (If not click here) and we know that her extreme craze for bollywood puts us bombayites to shame. Her latest collection is called Bombay Bioscope’ and draws inspiration from the 100 years of Indian cinema. It is inspired by various forms of art like constellation and triangulation. We can expect geometric shapes in design and silhouettes. Now this is one show we are not going to miss!

The day will come to an end with fashion’s most desirable designers Gauri and Nainika followed by Malini Ramani. Gauri and Nainika’s collection is inspired by European fashion history, art, music, books, personalities, theatre, old Hollywood and red carpet glamour.  The brand has always had an extreme feminine and romantic design philosophy with styles that are luxurious yet understated. With a strong emphasis on fabric, cut & colour, the designs focus on shape and flattering silhouettes. By combining tailoring with drapery, the garments are meticulously crafted and have a timeless appeal where old world charm, fantasy and elegance are brought bang up to date.

Malini Ramini SS14 collection is called Wanderlust Wonderland created for the woman with Wanderlust, a woman who has a passion for every kind of journey; “the adventurer, the wedding hopper, the culture queen, the peace seeker”. Malini has designed a collection especially for a woman with all these dimensions to her personality. The collection includes glamorous silk jersey drapes in pop colors, block printed dresses on sand washed silks and cotton and sexy cocktail dresses in sparkly metal sequins. There is also a range of embroidered Bandhini Kaftans and flowing shirtdresses. ” A perfect wardrobe to journey with”.
