India Bridal Fashion Week: Day 4

0 88

The fourth day, saw in its awakening some of the very best outfits in the light of Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week. Shantanu and Nikhil exhibited their collection “To Die For” which was inspired by the Renaissance period thereby bringing it to the contemporary bride.

While we had presumed the title to be an obvious example of hyperbole, the stylishly practical collection proved otherwise. When we think of bridal wear, we think of painfully gorgeous outfits that can make our bodies ache for days to come. However, this collection is convenient with flared peplum tops, white embellished sheath gowns and panelled kurta with gold 3D shoulder.  Backless gowns, drop waist mermaid gowns, flamenco dresses and net skirts were “to die for”. Tulle lehengas and sati draped over black churidaars teamed with a bustier provided the much needed innovations FMW hoped for.

Ashima and Leena present “Aalap” inspired from the Mughal era. The color palette included gold and bronze predominating doses of grey, purple, red, brown, beige, rust and orange. Inverted peacocks, pietra-dura motif, Gotta patti work enhanced the ensembles.

Meera Muzaffar Ali’s Pearl of the Orient was inspired by Awadh. Pearls, sequins, resham and zari were seen excessively. Saris, lehengas, shararas as well as floor length kurtas were intricately crafted from fabrics like chiffon, georgette, velvet and net. Colors ranged from whites to soft pastels to rich shades as well as black and gold.

Day 4 was a blend of inspirations coming from various aspects of historical and contemporary times. A day of more than just fashion, it was a day of inspiration and the sources are uncountable. Before you pick your bridal wear, you must know what moves you deep down. For what you wear should be a reflection of yourself.

What inspires you- the Renaissance period, the Mughal era or the Awadh? We would love to know. xx
