Over the recent times, it is nothing but art that is being the epoxy resin binding two nations-India and Pakistan. Love for our Pakistani singers like Atif Aslam has been unanimously expressed and now it’s the art of fashion that is bringing us closer.
Shehla Chatoor, who was titled as “Pakistan’s Most Inspiring Designer” at Pakistan Fashion Week last year, has added another feather to her fashionable hat. On the 14th of December, 2013, she unveiled her collection at PFDC, The Boulevard in Delhi. Pakistan is the land of beautiful fabrics, intricate detailing, and ethnic clothes that can outshine many others. Shehla has come to India after two decades and we have welcomed her back with open arms.
Famous Indian models like Carol Gracias, Indrani Das Gupta, Sonalika Sahay, Krishna Somani, Heena and Meher walked the ramp wearing the ensembles crafted by Shehla. Shehla is known to weave magic by integrating the Zardozi and Mokesh techniques with the age old Gara embroideries, to give us an enchanting piece of design. This combination can specially be seen in her bridal and luxury collections. Her designs reflect royalty, and have a sort of enigmatic quality attached to them. They imbibe the beauty, culture and art of Pakistan. She adds a unique touch to her ‘edgy western wear’ by making liberal use of gold chains, leather and metal.
The PFDC store in Delhi has not only the collections by Shehla Chatoor but also of other renowned Pakistani designers like HSY, Sana Safinaz and Kamiar Rokni.
Don’t let the boundaries stop you from indulging in so much art, culture and fashion. Fashion knows no boundaries and this gesture has only exemplified it further.
