Runway Review at Lakme Fashion Week Day 2

2 28

Day 2 of Lakme Fashion Week brought along a new dawn of style and innovation. From feeling the Indian tradition to space age transformation, there was never a standstill moment at LFW.

Sourabh Kant Srivastava showcased Hindu deity inspired line called “Rebirth of Kalyug”, with a touch of western influence evidently portrayed through acrylic, leather and metal trimmings. Printed as well as 3D floral appliqués reminded us of the scattered flowers offered to God. Beautifully dramatised with headgears and face cover-ups, the result was pure visual pleasure.

Payal Singhal’s French-Moroccan collection was a mix of very beautiful and dull outfits. We loved the Islamic-inspired prints she used. But honestly, Neha Dhupia being the show stopper could have worn something much better.

Karan Berry and Leon Vaz presented a set of gorgeous looking ensembles in sorbet colors. Cut out sleeves, high slit gowns, sheer overlays were predominant in the collection. Carol Gracias walked down the ramp as the show stopper in a white rich gown. Good clothes come in subtle shades!

British high street label Dorothy Perkins got officially launched by Jabong. The collection looked beautiful with floral printed dresses and skirts. Jackets, tops as well as metallic outfits looked stunning yet comfortable. Kangana stunned the audience in a metallic maxi as she walked down the ramp for Dorothy Perkins.

As the night was about to end, it couldn’t have without Gaurav Gupta and Mawi’s show. The crowd lined up and the show seemed more than houseful. Truly remarkable,  Gaurav Gupta’s space-age inspired collection came in shades of gold, copper, anthracite etc. WBDs in metallic jersey, jumpsuits, ardently draped gowns enhanced the silhouette in the most aesthetic way. Mawi’s jewelry stood out even with the heavily distracting ensembles. Exotic neckpieces brought about a vibe of Egyptian royalty in the collection. All-in-all, an absolute delight!
