Taking cue from Anna Wintour’s statement–Trend is a dirty word–at the recently concluded New York Fashion Week, Wendell Rodricks says, ‘‘We designers don’t follow trends, we are trendsetters; we set the trends on the runway based on our mood!’’ He then draws reference to his previous collection that comprised whites and reminds us how white became a trend and was carried by leading magazines in India for that season.
This season, Wendell Rodricks has associated himself with Philips, which is one of the leading diversified technology companies in the world to create a unique collection inspired on Pop Art. This collection perfectly fits into the concept of youthful fashion at Philips. The theme gives power to the youth of today to go explore their realms of ‘unreality’ to make it ‘unusual’.
Elaborating on this association, Wendell Rodricks says, “I will set the trend for Philips at LFW. The POPOLOGY Collection for Philips 2015 defines the narrative of a nostalgic 60’s emotion with a fashion forward look. It is a fusion of looks and themes to create something totally unexpected. For the first time ever, for Philips Personal Care, we have unfurled a wide colour palette that includes sunshine yellow, burnt orange, olive green, pale mint, dove grey, black, candy pink, pale lilac, Turkish blue, turquoise blue and signature white.”
