When Farhan Akhtar associates himself with a movie, it is difficult to let it pass unnoticed. And while we have been applauding his acting skills, it’s time we give his appearance some overdue credit. Though not the typical chocolate Bollywood boy, Farhan looks dapper nonetheless. Dil Dhadakne Do, a comedy-drama directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, is a movie which not only seems interesting but also visually appealing.
We love Farhan’s all-new hairstyle in the movie’s title track, courtesy BBlunt’s Creative Director and Celebrity Stylist, Avan Contractor. Inspired from the popular TV series, Mad Men, Avan gave him a suave side parted hairstyle. The theme of the number is retro and the look fits like gloves in hands. Bringing the retro style to contemporary cinema, Avan expresses her thoughts, “The structure, sharpness and the neatness of this look is what defines it. The shape of the haircut would maintain the modernity while the styling gives it the retro feel.”
While men do look up to Farhan for style inspiration, how adaptable is this late 50s and 60s hairstyle? Avan says it is rather a great idea for formal occasions, “I think it’s more about the person’s mood rather than the occasion. You could wear this to work as it’s a very clean and sharp look. You could work in conjunction with your wardrobe to dress it up or dress it down. However, it would be unfair to do a casual version.”
While, this hairstyle (and most others) depends mainly on blow drying, it can cause hair damage over the long run. How does one protect hair from damage without compromising on stylish looks? Avan Contractor advices, “One can prevent hair damage by using BBLUNT’s Climate Control anti-Frizz Leave-in Serum and Blown Away Volumizing Leave-in- spray to protect the hair from the heat of the dryer.”
All said, on a lighter note, we quizzed Avan on which character would Farhan resembles the most from the series Mad Men and here’s what she said, “Donald Draper without a doubt!”
Don Draper? We’d like to agree!
