Myntra Logo |The Full Story Behind The Controvery

Posted by Fashion Most Wanted on January 31, 2021July 19, 2022

Fashion e-commerce heavyweight Myntra has changed its logo. This decision was taken by Myntra after a person from Mumbai lodged a complaint in the Mumbai Police Cyber Crime Department. Furthermore, the complaint alleged that the Myntra logo was offensive and insulting towards women.

Who is Naaz Patel?

Naaz Patel shot to quick fame across social media platforms after the news about the Myntra logo change broke. Apparently, she is a woman activist who had lodged the complaint in December, 2020. She alleged in her complaint that the Myntra logo resembled a naked woman. Also demanding the removal of the logo and called for action to be taken against the company.

Mumbai Cyber Crime acts on the Myntra Logo complaint

Following the complaint DCP Rashmi Karandikar of Mumbai Police’s Cyber Crime Department told  Jagran English, “We found that the logo was offensive in nature for woman. Following the complaint, we sent an email to Myntra and their officials came and met us. The officials said they will change the logo in a month’s time.”

As a consequence Myntra has now decided to change its logo following this complaint on their official website, the Myntra app and all packaging material. However, they are yet to unveil their new logo officially.

We ran a poll on our Instagram handle to see how our audience reacted to this Myntra Logo change. In conclusion the opinion was not unanimous. It had a mixed opinion.

Myntra is one of India’s largest online retailers for apparel and accessories in India. The Flipkart-owned company recently grabbed headlines for its ‘End of Reason Sale.’ The popular E-commerce site sold 1.1 crore products in only 5 days’ time. The annual winter sale proved to be a massive hit for Myntra as it logged 51% increase in the website traffic during 2020, as compared to the sale that took place in 2019.
