Arty Churns To This Women’s Day!
By: Roshni Raj
It’s a beauty of a Tuesday that we love to wake up to! We’re working on the Women’s Day special today; Preserving the dying tradition of hand woven art that requires recognition, economical support & a deserving place in Indian & international textile market, Benarasi sarees are once again gaining popularity adding beauty, charm & elan to a woman’s persona, be it traditional or a contemporary one.
Known for their unique compact weaving, exotic detailing, traditional figures & spectacular hues, mostly Benarasi sarees are actually made in small villages on handlooms. Many of the fabrics are handwoven and then the surface embellishments are usually manually applied.

The heart of a Banarasi saree is the metallic thread such as gold or silver but with the rapid evolution in fashion demands, Banarasi sarees are now available in Tanchoi, Katan, Tissue, Jamdani & butidaar. The skilled weavers dedicatedly involved in the entire creative process of weaving and the concentrated handwork of the designer panel to create the epitome of excellence and exclusivity can be seen in the end product.
They stand out with their expansive school of thought that differs from the rest. They continue to expand the rural employee network and work towards an evident level of rural uplifment. In this way, with the help of resources & designers, they have made commendable, constant yet effective efforts to keep this traditional art alive.
