Burberry Reveals ‘English Rose’ Collection

Burberry presented its Burberry Prorsum Women’s wear Spring/Summer 2014 collection ‘English Rose’ in London’s Hyde Park on 16th September, 2013.


Fabrics like English lace, Macrame lace, lofty Scottish cashmere, soft sculptural cashmere, rubber, cotton, raw silk, felted merino wool as well as suede with intricate detailing. Silhouettes like cardigans, wrap coats, soft chesterfields, knot dresses, pencil skirts and lofty knits dominate the collection. Titled as ‘English Rose’, the color palette included rose pink, lavender, dusky mauve, mint, trench, white, crystal, pale yellow, sage green, berry red, grape, grey melange and black. Sunglasses came petal shapped and so did the bag. Belts were studded either with gems or with rubber flowers.

The show was lit with a galaxy of celebrated names like actors Naomie Harris, Sienna Miller, Hayley Atwell, Jeon Do-yeon, Gabriella Wilde and Suki Waterhouse; musicians Harry Styles, Paloma Faith, Alison Mosshart, George Ezra, Simon Neil, James Johnston, Ben Johnston, Rae Morris, George Barnett and George Craig; digital leaders and entrepreneurs Kevin Systrom (Instagram), Andrew Bosworth (Facebook), Jamal Edwards (SBTV), Dasha Zhukova and Mira Duma; models Alexa Chung and Poppy Delevingne; media personalities Patty Hou and Tanya Burr; as well as Olivia Palermo, Leigh Lezark, Jemma Mornington, Arthur Mornington, Elena Perminova and Donna Air. The British show soundtrack featured musicians George Ezra, Jake Bugg and James Bay.

Burberry collaborated with Apple to use iPhone 5s to capture and share all its digital brand content from the show, sharing strikingly beautiful photos and powerful video before, during and after the show. This included shooting and distributing the global live stream of the show to all Burberry platforms and media partners, as well as to Burberry flagship stores in London, Milan, Paris and Bucharest.

Along with apparel, bags and aaccessories designed for iPhone 5s, six nail colors launching in January 2014 are available to purchase online after the show on Burberry.com for a limited period lasting till 30th September, 2013. The British Gem Edition watch can be customised with one’s initials engraved on it, delivering spring 2014.

When it comes to fashion, creativity is not restricted to design, but it extends to the way you choose to communicate your style. For it is the language of fashion, if spoken right, can be comprehended worldwide.
