Day 4 @LakmeFashionWk

We’re already feeling the winter blues because the fashion fest will come to an end, but super excited for the Grand Finale! Yes, excited for the ‘earthly’ designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s show! The fifth and the second last day of Lakme fashion Week was dedicated to Indian textiles.

The day began with a workshop for Indian Textile Day. Maharashtra Handlooms Corp presented Pinnacle by Shruti Sancheti and Soumtira Mondal. Keeping in mind the Marathi tradition, the designer used a colour palette of warm and vibrant colours for the festive season. The showstopper Juhi Chawal absolutely charmed the audience. While Soumitra Mondal made use of ‘Jamdani’ weaving which gave an elegant look to the outfits.

The next show began with a traditional dance performance. Gaurang Shah presented khadi sarees with a trendy twist. The ever charming and graceful walked down the ramp for the designer. Dhoti pants, Nehru jackets in a bright colour palette were presented by Shravan Kumar for his show. The white and candy pink in lotus and parrot prints caught all our attention. The southern beauty Shriya Saran walked the ramp wrapped in the designer’s collection. Embroidered yokes are back in fashion and designer Vivek Kumar uses embroidery with panache. The flowy and eclectic dresses were a sure shot hit on the runway.

A traditional Manipuri singer took us back to the areas of north east for Krishna Mehta’s show. The designer revived Manipuri weaving skills and created some traditional outfits with a funky twist. The traditional sharara outfits with jackets looked unconventional and classy!
